April 2025 Update
Progress continues to move forward at RRHMA-Silvis!
Thanks to your generous donations, our hard-working teams at Silvis have put forth hundreds of man-hours towards many of our ongoing projects. Without your help, these projects would not be near as far as they are today. With that being said, we know that you all have been patiently waiting for updates from our shop crew. Let’s take a look at a few of our ongoing projects:
#3985 and #5511
We know just how much you all want to see our progress on our two large steam locomotive projects. And trust us, we want to share this huge progress with you too! However, on April 26, 2025, we will be hosting shop tours– and you can have the chance to see these giants in person!
Our shop crews will be providing tours at various times throughout the day, giving you a deep insider view on the progress on #3985 and #5511. You can be the first to see extremely significant milestones on these massive locomotives. Some of which you may never get to experience again! Purchase your tickets through our HOME page today!
Voice of #5511
Even though we cannot show all of our progress in the shop with you, there is something very important to share. Thanks to our friend Chris Rizzoli at Rizzoli Locomotive Works, the voice of #5511 has been returned to RRHMA sounding better than ever.
As some of you have seen from our Tractor’s and Trains 2024 event, Jeddo Coal #85 wore #5511’s whistle before being sent to Chris for a rebuild. A video of Jeddo Coal #85 with #5511’s whistle can be found on our YouTube page. During our upcoming event, Silvis Train Days & Classic Cars 2025, Jeddo Coal #85 will once again be wearing the rebuilt whistle.
